5 Reasons To Get Psyched for Football Season

By Jessi Stickel on August 25, 2015

Summer is coming to an end, students are going back to school, and the weather is getting to be actually enjoyable.

Fall is just around the corner, and you know what that means … football season! The first football game of the 2015 season is sooner than you think: September 10.

Even if you’re not a diehard football fan, it is fun to partake in all the football festivities. Here are some of the best things to get excited for during football season.

1. Football Themed Food

Whether it’s with your family or a bunch of friends, football themed food is the best while watching your favorite team score a touchdown. From cupcakes decorated like football fields to dip shaped like a football to chocolate covered strawberries iced like footballs, the possibilities are endless.

Football themed food is fun to eat and gives a football party at home or tailgates before games a little more team spirit (and sugar … lots and lots of sugar).

2. Gatherings & Parties

What a better way to spend football Sunday than watching the game with your family and friends. Having your friends and family all come together for a football game at home is a great excuse to get everyone together.

Being in the comfort of your home or a family member’s is enjoyable. You can have homemade finger foods and dishes and as many different kinds of drinks and alcohol as you like.

It is also fun to go out to a restaurant or bar to catch the game, have some great food and maybe even a few drinks. Going out to watch a football game is different because you’re enjoying the game with many other people and can be a fun alternative from watching the game at home.

3. Attending Games

Actually experiencing a football game live and in the moment is almost indescribable. Just the atmosphere of a football game is so incredible, it makes the game that much better.

Whether it is your college team or your favorite NFL team, being surrounded by thousands of cheering fans creates a type of unity between the crowds. Live games are exciting with the music and different cheers, even just seeing how everything works with the commercial breaks and all is interesting to experience.

4. Tailgate Parties

With going to football games comes tailgating in the parking lot beforehand. If you have never been tailgating, it is when fans meet up and basically have a little cookout/party in the parking lot of the stadium before the game starts.

Tailgating is a perfect way to have a good time before going into the stadium. Eating, drinking, hanging out with friends (and strangers) and playing games like corn hole makes game day an all-day event!

5. Game Day Apparel

Of course, with football season comes team apparel. It’s fun to dress in your favorite team’s jerseys, hats, face paint and even foam fingers to show off your team spirit. You can get discounted jerseys and other team apparel at department stores like Kohls and JCPenney.
