When travelling, my friends want to stay out late and enjoy the nightlife, but I'm more of a daytime sightseer. What should we do so that we're all happy?

I am 100% in the same boat as you are. If your friends are truly good friends, then they should understand and respect where you are coming from. Just because you don't want to go out does not mean that they can't go out. I have found that when I am in this situation, the best thing is to compromise. Maybe try going out for an hour and then head back to wherever you are sleeping. If you don't want to go out, then don't; you should be able to enjoy your travels in whatever way you see fit.
I had a similar experience when traveling with my friends, and we ended up agreeing to split up at times so that everyone could do what they wanted. Some of us would wake up earlier and explore during the day, while the rest would wake up later and stay out later into the night. We would meet up in the afternoon/early evening so we were still able to spend time together, but didn't have to alter our own schedule. While you might not necessarily want to go out sightseeing on your own, see if you can find one friend who would be willing to go out earlier with you, then let them do their own thing at night.
Typically, in situations such as this, the best thing you can do is compromise. There's going to be a little give and take, but you'll both be happy in the end.

So maybe during the week, you do some daytime sightseeing and over the weekend, you enjoy a little more of the nightlife (or any alternative plan in which both are accomplished). Basically, you will both have to agree to give a little bit, but in the end, you'll both be able to see what you want to see and you'll be able to do it together.
